Game: (Ghost of Yotei)

Platform: PS5

Publisher/Developer: (SIE/Sucker Punch Productions)

Release Date: (2025)

Set more than 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, players will take on a new protagonist by the name, Atsu that wears a Ghost mask to seek vengeance against her enemies in a new region of Japan. “The story is set in the lands surrounding Mount Yōtei, a towering peak in the heart of Ezo, an area of Japan known as Hokkaido in present day. In 1603, this area was outside the rule of Japan, and filled with sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and unexpected dangers. It’s a far cry from the organized samurai clans who lived in Tsushima”.

Not much is known yet about the story, but expect to hear more from Sony & Sucker Punch soon!

Game: (Borderlands 4)

Platforms: (PS5, PC, Xbox Series S/X)

Publisher/Developer: (2K Games/Gearbox Interactive)

Release Date: (2025)

Borderlands is on the verge of releasing an exciting new installment, and this time, it takes players to the mysterious and uncharted planet of Kairos. This shift away from the iconic setting of Pandora, which has been a staple in the previous games of the franchise, promises to bring fresh and innovative experiences. Known for its thrilling co-op gameplay, the Borderlands series offers players the chance to blast through enemies and level up together in a vibrant and chaotic world. While much of the storyline remains shrouded in mystery, fans can expect more updates and tantalizing details to emerge in the coming months. For those who haven't yet experienced the Borderlands legacy, I highly recommend teaming up with friends for the adventure. While it's certainly possible to tackle the game solo, the challenge intensifies against higher-level foes that can easily take you down in a matter of seconds. Having a solid team elevates the experience, enabling you to effectively wield your weapons and strategize against formidable enemies. Playing with friends who appreciate the game's mechanics makes all the difference and enhances the enjoyment immensely.

Mock-up Image for Possible Next Nintendo Console

By Nintendo

Release Date (2025)

A NEW CONSOLE IS COMING OUT THIS YEAR!!! Back in 2017, Nintendo made waves in the gaming community when they released the Nintendo Switch, which quickly became a beloved successful hybrid console. It offers players the unique ability to experience gaming in various ways—whether docked and playing on their TV, enjoying a game in tabletop mode, or taking their gaming experience on the go with its handheld feature. Since its launch, this console has held a special place in the hearts of gamers around the world, both casual and hardcore, who adore its versatile concept. While I can’t definitively say if Nintendo will choose to name their new console the “Switch 2,” it has indeed been confirmed by Nintendo themselves that their forthcoming console will be backward compatible with existing Nintendo Switch game cards. Additionally, players will be able to carry over their Nintendo Network IDs to this new system. This strongly suggests that we can expect yet another innovative hybrid console from Nintendo, similar in spirit to the beloved Switch.

The main challenge for Nintendo is how to improve their specs to match current consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. They might aim for power similar to the PS4 Pro, which provided high resolution and great graphics, fitting for a handheld hybrid. Whatever Nintendo is planning, an announcement is expected by March!

Game: (Grand Theft Auto VI)

Platforms: (PS5, PC, Xbox Series S/X)

Publisher/Developer: (Take-Two Interactive/Rockstar Games)

Release Date: (2025)

This is the big one! After over a decade since the release of GTA V, Rockstar is finally releasing the long-awaited sequel that many fans have been waiting for! GTA VI is set to be in the Miami fictional city of Vice City along with Leonard County and the Everglades. Players will be able to control the two main protagonists by the names of Lucia & Jason. Much isn’t known yet about how these characters are together, but expect a similar approach to Bonnie and Clyde, running heists, going into clubs, and just running a rampage altogether. What makes this game appeal more special is how Rockstar is using real-life situations from social media and inputting them into the game. Many people will be laughing at how they’re copying those characters and situations into the game, but more will be revealed soon. GTA VI should be out before the end of the year!

Five major games are launching this year that will likely come with a hefty price tag. In addition, we can expect a slew of announcements and exciting reveals from both prominent developers and innovative indie studios in the coming months. With so much happening in the gaming world, 2025 is shaping up to be a truly thrilling year—are you ready to dive into the action?!
